Tottori Sand Dunes
(Tottori Sakyu)
Japan's only sand dunes, the formation is considered very exotic in this country of high humidity and plentiful rain. Measuring 16 kilometers by 2 kilometers, with a height of 92 meters (the highest point), the prevailing winds from the Japan Sea have created this natural phenomenon and often-used location for movie and video dramas.

Idegahama Beach
(Idegahama)
The purity and fineness of the sands here are evidences by the sounds made when walking on them, giving this beach the nickname Chirping Sand Beach. This spot is also noted for the beauty of the sea and the landscape.

Cape Nagao
(Nagao Misaki)
Considered one of the most beautiful places in the San'in region in Tottori Prefecture, the rugged coast here has been beaten and eroded by the might of the Japan Sea and features dramatic rock formations, caves, and other evidence of nature's power. In the Nishi-Inaba Prefectural Natural Park, fishermen gather year round to catch sea bass and black bream.

Yonago Waterbird Park
(Yonago Mizudori Koen)
Small swans from Siberia winter here, the farthest south that these beautiful migratory birds venture. The central Nature Center observation point furnishes telescopes for avid birdwatchers as well as an information service.

Kaike Spa
(Kaike Onsen)
This hotspring resort is said to have originated when fishermen found hot mineral water arising from the sea bottom. Today's spa features hot mineral water mixed with seawater. This mixture is of course excellent for health, but it has the added virtue of enhancing beauty. This is one of the 55 recommended hotsprings in Japan. The spa is a favorite winter resort, but instead of skiing, relaxing in a hot tub, eating fresh crab, and drinking local sake from the crap shell is the aim.
